New Year’s Resolution

December 29, 2009 - 6:57 pm No Comments

I’ve got a suggestion for you, this year.

Instead of the typical New Year resolutions, that seem to only last a few weeks, try something completely different. It will even help with your “resolutions”.

Today; now, if possible (no, don’t wait until the 1st of January), sit down with a pen and paper, and decide what you really want to have, be, or do by December 31, 2010. Write down everything that comes to mind; even the “it would be nice to have” things.

When you’re done, go back to the list and choose 3-5 of the ones that are most important to you.

Done? Good.

Now, find an empty spiral notebook; or buy yourself a journal.

Here’s your “resolution” for 2010. Every day, write down those 3-5 things you want; but write them as if you already have them. And write a deadline date for seeing each accomplished.

For example, ‘I’ve paid off all my credit card bills, and am completely debt-free! by June 7, 2010′

Wait! Write them every day? Yes, every day (You’ll miss a few days here and there, but determine to write them every day)

You’ll be surprised, next December, to see all you’ve accomplished.

Bonus: Do you want to reach those goals even sooner? Here’s another tip.

Every night, before you go to sleep, write 1-3 things, for each goal, that you can do tomorrow to help you reach that goal. Then, visualize yourself as you’ll be when each goal is reached. See yourself in the moment; not just as an observer.

Sound strange? Think about all the years gone by with New Year’s resolutions forgotten. What have you got to lose? Better still, what have you got to gain?

Have a great New Year. It’s my wish that this is your best year ever.
